Exploring scientific collaboration with the Faculty of Chemistry of Maria Curie-Sklodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin

2024-10-15

Prof. Dr. Juan Carlos Colmenares was honored to visit the Faculty of Chemistry of Maria Curie-Sklodowska University (UMCS) in Lublin.

Together with the Professors Mariusz Barczak, Dimitrios Giannakoudakis, Janusz Ryczkowski, Wojciech Gac and Bożena Czech, we dived into groundbreaking research on topics like (photo)catalysis, hydrogels, activated porous carbon textiles, and nano-dimensional titanate-based composites, aiming to tackle environmental challenges and contribute towards hydrogen production.

We also intensively discussed possible collaborations for international grant applications.

Part of our meeting was focused on new project started at IPC-PAS and UMCS, funded by Polish National Science Center:

  1. OPUS 2023/51/B/ST5/01911 titled: Novel sulfur-tuned advanced carbons: synthesis, characterization and applications”.
Project leader: Prof. Dr. Mariusz Barczak

  2. SONATA 2023/51/D/ST5/01915 titled: Designing of multifunctional smart porous carbon textiles decorated with novel MOF nanocomposites as protective media against toxic vapors”.
Project leader: Prof. Dr. Dimitrios Giannakoudakis

  3. OPUS 2023/51/B/ST5/00752 titled:“Surface-Interface engineering in constructing multi-dimensional functional hybrid piezophotocatalysts for redox selective organic synthesis in flow”
Project leader: Prof. Dr. Juan Carlos Colmenares Quintero
